The San Francisco Giants may have missed out on Aaron Judge, but their goal of signing a superstar remained intact.
And last night, San Francisco landed one of the biggest free agents still out on the market, signing star shortstop Carlos Correa to a 13-year, $350 million contract.
Correa was a free agent last offseason and signed a three-year deal with the Minnesota Twins.
The 28-year-old ultimately opted out after year one.
The slugger hit .291 with 22 home runs and 64 RBI during the regular season.
On Twitter, ESPN’s Jeff Passan described how Correa bet on himself with a short-term contract in Minnesota and ultimately won big.

Correa Rewards Himself With Large Deal
The veteran shortstop turned down $160 million from the Houston Astros before departing for the Twins in free agency.
Correa earned $35.1 million in 2022.
In the end, Correa cashed in on a large deal, which ultimately makes him the highest-paid shortstop of all time.
San Francisco also was in desperate need of another big bat.
With Correa in the fold, their lineup has grown even stronger after the addition of Mitch Haniger.
The Giants will likely have both Correa and Joc Pederson fill the No. 3 and 4 spots in their lineup.
San Francisco has been quite busy over the past few days, signing pitchers Sean Manaea and Ross Stripling to strengthen their starting rotation.
Now, they’ll look to try and retain left-hander Carlos Rodon, who remains a free agent.
Correa bet on himself and ended up making a fortune.
The Giants now have somebody to build around.
