The New York Mets have been effective offensively this season, as they rank fifth in MLB with a .758 OPS. However, they looked like a different team on Tuesday, as they lost 5-1 to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Mets (23-14) finished with just four hits, and Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo, Jeff McNeil, and Tyrone Taylor were all hitless. Starting pitcher David Peterson (2-2) earned the loss after allowing four runs on five hits in six innings.
To make matters worse, Nimmo tweaked his leg while fielding a ball in the outfield. New York manager Carlos Mendoza spoke about it after the game, via SNY.
"I don't know if his spikes got stuck there with the turf. A little hyperextended, the knee there," he explained. "We're gonna have the doctor take a look at him. He was able to manage, he was stable, and played through it obviously, finished the game. I kept checking with him, the trainers continued to check with him."
"As of right now, I'm not too concerned," he continued. "Again, let's see what the doctor says."

Nimmo is slashing .211/.272/.406 with seven homers and 23 RBI in 35 games this season. The 32-year-old has been with the Mets since they drafted him No. 13 overall in the 2011 MLB Draft. He first got called up to the big leagues in 2016 and led the NL with seven triples in 2022.
New York is now two games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies atop the NL East.
