Carlos Mendoza has significant relief to see his New York Mets squad gaining momentum with a solid stretch of games after beating the Colorado Rockies 4-2 on Monday evening.
New York has been going through a brutal start to the 2026 MLB season, seeing the team near the bottom of the NL standings. 31 games into the season, they had a 10-21 record, a far cry from how they started in past seasons.
Despite this, they finally put together a stretch of wins in their last four games. New York has gone 3-1 so far, getting their third win after beating Colorado in the series opener. Mendoza reflected on the win after the game, giving credit to the squad for calming themselves down and playing the way they’re supposed to.
“We’ve got to continue to win series, but it’s good to see the guys playing relaxed, playing their game, playing baseball,” Mendoza said.

Carlos Mendoza and the Mets will need all the wins they can get to make their way back up the standings. They hope that their 3-1 stretch in the last four games can ignite a solid win streak after beating the Rockies.
New York and Colorado refused to let one another get on the scoreboard, being scoreless throughout five innings. The Mets finally came alive by scoring all four of their runs in the sixth frame. Carson Benge, Luis Torrens and Mark Vientos made the big hits to give their team to key victory on the road.
New York improved to a 13-22 record on the season but remain at the bottom of the NL East Division standings. They are under the Philadelphia Phillies and the Washington Nationals at the moment.
The Mets will look forward to the second game of their series against the Rockies. The contest will take place on May 5 at 8:40 p.m. ET.
