The Boston Red Sox won their fourth straight game as they are closing in on a Wild Card spot. They are benefiting from a relatively easy schedule. The big test will come following the All-Star break when they face the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs, and Los Angeles Dodgers. One name that has been on fire as of late is center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela. Since June 1st entering tonight, he was hitting .304 with a .955 OPS and a 160 wRC+. He has eight home runs, 18 RBI, and 18 runs scored. Tonight, he went 1-4 with a home run.

He’s on a five-game hitting streak and batting .429 during that stretch, with five doubles, three home runs, six RBIs, and six runs scored. He’s homered in three straight games. Since June 27th, he’s gone 14-for-39, hitting .359 with seven doubles, four home runs, nine RBIs, and nine runs scored. He’s becoming exactly the player the Red Sox envisioned when they gave him that extension. He’s giving the Red Sox a Gold Glove defense and turning into a productive spot in the lineup, hitting anywhere from sixth through ninth.
