The Chicago Cubs are looking to be a force when the postseason rolls around and need to continue winning games. However, one of their key contributors left Tuesday’s game against the Atlanta Braves with an apparent injury. We now know what the injury has been announced as and have a bit of an idea of what to expect, so let’s take a deeper dive into the injury that Chicago Cubs star Kyle Tucker suffered.

Chicago Cubs News: Kyle Tucker Exits Game with Injury

The Chicago Cubs are looking to continue battling with the Milwaukee Brewers for the NL Central crown as they currently sit 5.5 games back in the division. However, they saw Kyle Tucker exit the game with an injury as in the bottom of the fifth inning, he slid into second base on a forceout and would talk to the trainer in the dugout before heading back out to the field for the top of the sixth.

However, he would then be pulled after the sixth inning as he was replaced in right field with Willi Castro with what the team officially announced as left calf tightness. It is unclear if the Chicago Cubs star would need to miss time due to the injury, but this is certainly not the news the Cubs were hoping for.  This type of injury does not necessarily mean Tucker will miss any action, but there is still the chance as we do not know the extent of the injury.

Tucker is having a typical season offensively heading into his free agency as he has a .853 OPS with 22 home runs, 73 RBI, and 25 stolen bases in 115 games in the middle of the Chicago Cubs’ lineup. He has been on fire lately as he is 18-for-55 (.327) with four home runs and an 8:11 walk-to-strikeout ratio in his previous 15 games. It will be interesting to see if he is in the lineup on Wednesday or if manager Craig Counsell gives him the day off to recover.

Currently, the Chicago Cubs are holding the top NL Wild Card spot with an 80-59 record and are essentially locked into a playoff spot as they are 10 games clear of falling out of the Wild Card. However, the team has their eyes set with the Brew Crew for the NL Central crown.
