Chicago Stars FC's Mallory Swanson Explains Absence

Chicago Stars FC have been without Mallory Swanson for the entire 2025 season, and the club’s number nine has finally revealed the reason.

Swanson announced on her Instagram that she and her husband, Chicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson, are expecting a child.

Naturally, this will keep Swanson away from the Stars for the time being.

Swanson was Chicago’s joint-leading goalscorer in 2024 with seven finishes as the club qualified for the postseason. Her return to club and international soccer not only bolstered Chicago’s roster but helped the USWNT win Gold in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, where she scored four times.
