CJ Cron Wants to Return Before End of Season
USA TODAY Sports

As the Los Angeles Angels season winds down, some of their injured players are trying to make a return. Even if it's for just a few games, players want to get back out there to help the team.

One of those players is first baseman C.J. Cron, who has been missing time to deal with a back injury. He hasn’t played since the middle of August, but the veteran infielder is hopeful to return to game action before the season is done.

“Just for my mental health, going into the offseason having played a few games and knowing I’m good, I think is going to go a long way,” Cron said.

Per The OC Register

Getting that confidence back up after missing time can really do wonders for any player, especially as they get set to head into the long offseason. Making sure they are healthy can improve a mindset and get their offseason off to a strong start.

For Cron, he is starting to work his way back up. It remains to be seen if he does indeed return this season, but he did start doing some activities out on the field.

“First baseman C.J. Cron (back) began doing baseball activity on the field, including taking batting practice, on Monday."

Per Jeff Fletcher of The OC Register

On the season, Cron is hitting .252 with 12 home runs and 37 runs batted in. He was traded to the Angels from the Colorado Rockies before the trade deadline but has struggled to find any rhythm at the plate since.

Hopefully, we do get to see Cron return to the field at some point this season. If anything, Cron is scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the season, so this could also be a last-minute showcase for potential teams this offseason.
