Cleveland Guardians Continue Spectacular Play With 7th Straight Win

The Cleveland Guardians continue to play the best of any team in the league and won their seventh straight game by defeating the Los Angeles 10-4 on the road Friday night. Third Baseman Jose Ramirez drove in four of Cleveland’s 10 runs last night and had his first multi-home run game of the 2024 regular season.

Cleveland’s winning streak began on May 17 against the Minnesota Twins when they took a three-game set from them and followed it up by winning all three games against the New York Mets. Going back a few days prior, Cleveland has won 10 of their last 11 games. They were struggling before their last few weeks of games as they were unable to put together a consistent stretch of solid games.

Even with Cleveland’s (34-17) strong last week they only hold a 1.5-game lead in the American League Central over the Kansas City Royals. The Guardians have the second-most wins in the American League and the third-most victories in the entire league.

Cleveland’s offense has been a strength for them this season as they are fifth in runs scored, ninth in home runs, and 16th in batting average. Jose Ramirez is putting together another MVP-caliber season as he is leading the team in nearly every offensive category and is near the top of Major League Baseball in a few categories as well. He is tied for fifth in the league with 14 home runs and leads all of MLB with 49 RBI.

The Cleveland Guardians pitching staff has also gotten off to a stellar start this regular season. They are fourth in ERA, fifth in strikeouts, and seventh in opposing batting average. A few pitchers in particular have been outstanding thus far this season. Starting Pitcher Logan Allen is fourth in the league with six wins and Closer Emmanuel Clase is tied for the league lead with 15 saves. Clase has converted three of his four save opportunities during the seven-game winning streak of the Cleveland Guardians.

Clase has been historically great this season as he has surrendered an earned run in only one of his 26 appearances.

Guardians Upcoming Schedule

Cleveland will look to continue their winning ways in the final two games of their series against the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday and Sunday. The Guardians continue their road trip by heading to the “Mile High City” to face the Colorado Rockies for a three-game series.

The Cleveland Guardians are one of the best teams in the league this season and are in prime position for a deep run in the 2024 MLB Playoffs.
