The Cleveland Guardians, with the 27th overall pick in tonight’s draft, selected Jace Laviolette out of Texas A&M. In 56 games this season, he had a slash line of .258/.427/.576 with a 1.003 OPS. He had nine doubles, 18 home runs. 61 RBI, 56 runs scored, seven stolen bases, and 57 walks. Laviolette was the 20th-ranked prospect entering the 2025 draft. Scouts expect him to be a right fielder in his career, but it’ll be something to watch for the Guardians as he progressed through the system.

The 21-year-old outfielder started his collegiate career in 2023. In 64 games, he posted a slash line of .287/.414/.632 with a 1.047 OPS. He had ten doubles, two triples, 21 home runs, 63 RBI, 50 runs scored, 18 stolen bases, and 48 walks. That summer he played for Falmouth in the Cape Cod League, posting a slash line of .381/.500/.429 with a .929 OPS. He had a double, two RBI, five runs scored, three stolen bases, and five walks. In 2024, he played in 68 games, posting a slash line of .258/.449/.726 with a 1.175 OPS. He had 16 doubles, three triples, 29 home runs, 78 RBI, 87 runs scored, seven stolen bases, and 64 walks.
