Cody Bellinger's Return Headlines Flurry of Cubs' Roster Moves

After welcoming ace Justin Steele back to the mound on Monday , the Chicago Cubs got more good news Tuesday as Cody Bellinger's name returned to the lineup card. His activation from the injured list was among several Tuesday roster moves.

To make room on the roster for Bellinger, the Cubs optioned Alexander Canario to Triple-A Iowa Iowa. The young outfielder was solid in his time with the big-league club but will give way to the experienced Bellinger.

Once again, the Cubs are getting a big boost to their roster as Bellinger's power will be a welcome sight for such a hot-and-cold offense

After Daniel Palencia's disastrous appearance out of the bullpen on Monday, it appeared that something wasn't right with the right-hander. He'll now make a trip to the 15-day IL as Keegan Thompson returns just a day after being demoted to make room for Steele.

There are a lot of moving pieces, but the main takeaway is that the Cubs are moving in the right direction for a second straight day. Regardless of Monday's loss, the team is nearing full strength.

Seiya Suzuki is still on the IL, but he's making strides in his recovery. Once he returns, the Cubs lineup will be at full strength once again.

With Bellinger back, it'll be interesting to see how Craig Counsell handles Pete Crow-Armstrong's playing time. The highly touted prospect has improved since his first stint on the roster in 2023.

Regarding Tuesday's lineup, it seems Bellinger will slowly be eased back into action by handling DH duties. It's a good problem to have with Bellinger's bat now at the ready.
