Colorado Rockies Roster Moves 5/24

RHP – Matt Koch

The Rockies have designated Koch for assignment today ahead of their game. He has appeared in two games without factoring in a decision. He has an 81.00 ERA and a 12.00 WHIP. He only recorded one out in his two outings, giving up three hits, three earned runs, one home run, one walk, and zero strikeouts.

LHP – Kyle Freeland

The Rockies transferred Freeland from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list today ahead of the game with a left elbow strain. Freeland has only made four starts for the Rockies this season without a win and three losses. He has a 13.21 ERA and a 2.55 WHIP this season. He has allowed 32 hits, 23 earned runs, three home runs, eight walks, nine strikeouts, and only pitched 15.2 innings this year.

RHP – Matt Carasiti

The Rockies selected the contract of Carasiti from the Triple-A affiliate the Albuquerque Isotopes today. In Triple-A he has appeared in 20 games with two wins, one loss and six saves in 21.1 innings. He has allowed 22 hits, 14 earned runs, two home runs, 11 walks, and 26 strikeouts. He has a 5.91 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP while pitching in Triple-A.

RHP – Peter Lambert

The Rockies optioned Lambert today ahead of the game to Triple-A where he will pitch for the Albuquerque Isotopes. He has two wins, three losses, one hold in 13 games, and three of those starts. He allowed 35 hits, 22 earned runs, three home runs, 14 walks, and 22 strikeouts. He had a 7.24 ERA and a 1.79 WHIP while pitching for the Rockies.

RHP – John Curtiss

The Rockies have selected the contract of Curtiss, ahead of tonight’s game from the Albuquerque Isotopes in Triple-A. In 17 games this year in Triple-A he has allowed 27 hits, 16 earned runs, four home runs, seven walks, and 18 strikeouts. He has gone winless with four losses on the year over 21.1 innings recording a 6.75 ERA and a 1.59 WHIP.

Wrap up:

The Rockies have been struggling all year with their pitching and today was a flurry of moves as they continue to try and find the right arms for their pitching staff. This team is going nowhere this year and has not looked good at all in the early going. Matt Carasiti is the only name here that I have any interest in as he has proven to be able to close out games in Triple-A perhaps he could develop into a reliable late-inning guy for the Rockies during his call-up and potentially stick around for a while.
