Concerns Growing About Mets' Juan Soto After Recent Slump

Despite the New York Mets having one of the best records in all of baseball, it's been obvious that there's a level of concern within the ball club.

As the Mets have some of the best players in all of baseball and are getting paid like it, fans, as well as insiders, have noticed a shift in how things are being run in Queens.

Players like Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor, Brandon Nimmo, and most recently, Juan Soto have highlighted their lineup, and they have led the team to a 29-20 record.

While returning stars like Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso are off to strong starts, it's been a different story for newcomer Juan Soto.

After signing with New York in this past offseason to a 15-year, $765 million deal, he's been off to a rocky start.

The Mets decided to bounce the outfielder down to the No. 3 spot in the batting order before their matchup on Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox.

It seems like Soto hasn't liked the move, and his first at-bat against Boston's ace Garrett Crochet was an unusual one.

It's also worth noting that before Wednesday's game, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza was asked about Juan Soto's hustle recently.

"We'll talk to him about it... In this ballpark, anywhere but in particular this one with that wall right there, you gotta get out of the box," Mendoza told reporters when describing Soto's solo hit in at Fenway Park in Tuesday's game.

A common theme seems to keep happening and fans have reacted negatively towards Soto's effort.

"Trade deadline in July, send him," one fan said.

"My man has checked out already. Only 14 years and 4 months left of misery!" another fan mentioned.

As we are just in the first year of 15 that the Mets will be having Soto under contract, it seems that it hasn't been smooth sailing.

There is a lot of season left, but as of now, fans and insiders haven't been pleased with his performance in 2025.
