The Tampa Bay Rays are one of the preeminent pitching factories in MLB today. They can develop pitchers through their farm system, or turn the careers of struggling arms around at the drop of a hat, and have done so for many years now.
One pitcher who has been with the organization for the better part of the last decade is Taj Bradley. The Rays selected Bradley in the fifth round of the 2018 MLB draft out of Redan High School, and the righty made his Major League debut in 2023.

The flashes of brilliance from the righty have been there. He struck out 23 batters across his first 15.1 innings at the Major League level spread across three starts, and earned the win in all three.
It has been Bradley's consistency, however, that has kept the young starter from taking that next step and becoming a true ace. Even through his first seven starts this year, there have been outings where he looked like a legitimate ace, and others where he looked completely lost.

Through his first three starts of 2025, Bradley pitched to a 3.71 ERA across 17 innings. Over his next four outings, he pitched to a 4.94 ERA across 23.2 innings, which also includes a seven-inning outing where he allowed only two runs.
The lack of consistency has plagued Bradley throughout his career. At 24 years old, it is still far too early to give up on the righty. But now, in his third season at the Major League level, he needs to find that consistency that true aces have, to take that next step and fully reach the potential that is buried deep within.
