Could this Chicago White Sox top prospect be the next Chris Sale

The 22-year-old Noah Schultz is ranked as the Chicago White Sox top prospect and the MLBs number sixteen overall prospect.

The 6’9” left-hander was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the first round twenty-six overall of the 2022 MLB June Amateur Draft. Last season for the White Sox Schultz pitched for both Double-A Birmingham and Single-A Winston-Salem where overall Schultz made 23 starts, having a 2.24 ERA, with 115 strikeouts in 88.1 innings pitched.

Recently MLB.com Jonathan Mayo conducted a poll of MLB executives on a number of topics, one of which was “which prospect has the best secondary pitch” and Noah Schultz received 15.9% from executives for having an amazing slider.

Could the Chicago White Sox have the next Chris Sale?

Receiving such a high-praise for his slider which according to MLB.com grades out at 70/80 which is elite. His other pitches his fastball (60/80) and changeup (50/80) are also plus pitches for Schulz. Having such a wicked slider and with it being Schultz best pitch draws comparisons to another tall, lanky, elite left-hander the Chicago White Sox had who had a devastating slider, and that would be Chris Sale.

Chris Sale has made his career with having a wicked slider following and making hitters look silly for years. Sales slider is the reason he won’t the pitching triple crown in the National League and won the Cy Young award last season. If Schultz slider is anything like Sale’s (which it figures to be) then the White Sox have a future Ace on their hands.

Where will Noah Schultz be in 2025?

Both Noah Schultz and number three overall prospect Hagen Smith figure to be the future foundations of the White Sox starting rotation. Schultz figures to start the year in Triple-A for this season given his level of success at Birmingham last season. If Noah Schultz can have that same level of dominance in Triple-A that he had in Double-A he should figure to get the call up before the All-Star break.
