The Chicago Cubs are very likely to lose longtime catcher and 2016 World Series champion Willson Contreras in free agency.
However, that does not mean that they won’t target other top-of-the-line free agents.
One such star out on the free agent market is Carlos Correa.
The 28-year-old is one of four premier free agent shortstops along with Trea Turner, Dansby Swanson, and Xander Bogaerts.
On Twitter, a Cubs analyst gave the 2017 World Series champion a full endorsement, listing all the reasons why Correa would be a great fit on the North Side of Chicago and how he fits many of the Cubs needs.

Cubs Insider Endorses Correa
Correa signed with the Minnesota Twins this past offseason for three years and $105.3 million.
That contract included two opt-out clauses after years one and two.
Obviously, Correa exercised his opt-out after this season.
In 522 at-bats, the two-time All-Star and former American League Rookie of the Year hit for a .291 average, popped 22 home runs, posted an OPS of .833, and picked up 47 extra-base hits.
As seen in the tweet above, this Cubs insider fully supports the team potentially signing Correa, listing things such as power, plate discipline, his Gold Glove-caliber defense, affinity with analytics, and clubhouse leadership skills, as reasons why he fits the bill for the North Siders.
Chicago finished 74-88 and fell short of the postseason for the third time in the last four seasons.
The team came in third place in the NL Central, 15 games behind the rival St. Louis Cardinals, who coasted to their 13th division title.
Somebody like Correa would give the Cubs a chance to make some noise in a weak NL Central division.
