According to NBC Sports Chicago insider, Gordon Wittenmyer, the Cubs selected the contract of Adrian Sampson. The Cubs bring the right-handed pitcher back to the active roster and DFA’d Eric Stout to create roster space.

Adrian Sampson has been with the Chicago Cubs since 2021. He performed in ten games in 2021 and sported a 2.80 ERA over 35.1 innings pitched. He struck out 28 batters in 2021 and finished the season with a 1.075 WHIP.

Adrian Sampson In 2022 With The Chicago Cubs

Sampson has only appeared in one game so far in 2022. He threw one inning and allowed two hits and two runs. But his ERA remains at 0.00. Sampson returns to the Cubs after being DFA’d himself by not only Chicago but the Seattle Mariners as well.

Adrian cleared waivers and looks to help the Cubs end their nine-game losing streak when they take on the San Diego Padres in the series finale at Wrigley Field on Thursday.

Eric Stout

The Chicago Cubs DFA’d LHP, Eric Stout, after 3.2 innings pitched across two games led him to a 4.91 ERA. The 29-year-old Glen Ellyn, Illinois native has only pitched six innings in MLB since the Kansas City Royals drafted him in the 13th round of the 2014 June Amateur Draft.

Cubs Losing Woes

Even though Caleb Kilian had a tough outing on Wednesday, he will stay with the Cubs’ rotation and Sampson figures to be a part of that carousel as well. Will it be enough to break their nine-game losing streak?
