Rumors have suggested that the Miami Marlins could look to move on from a few of their players at the deadline. The Marlins aren't as bad as some might make them seem, sitting at 48-53 and 10.0 games back in the National League East.
Because the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets are ahead of them, it seems very unlikely that the Marlins will have an opportunity to make the postseason, at least from capturing the division.
However, they have some young talent, and if things go Miami's way soon, it's possible the team could be in a much better situation than it has been over the past few years.
However, the Chicago Cubs will have to hope they're willing to move on from a few of their top players. According to reports, the Cubs have interest in right-hander Edward Cabrera, who was once viewed as one of the top prospects in baseball. Cabrera has really put it together during the 2025 campaign, posting a 3.48 ERA and striking out 92 hitters.
According to the latest report from Matt Trueblood of North Side Baseball, the Cubs had scouts watching Cabrera, who threw 5.2 innings of one-run baseball against the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night.
“Was told earlier today they’d have a presence there tonight. Also that he’s currently their 'priority target.' Although obviously, the question of whether they’ll pay the blush-inducing price still stands,” he wrote.
As he touched on, there are still questions of whether the Cubs would want to give up the necessary package they’d have to land an arm of his caliber.
Only 27 years old, there's a very good chance that Cabrera could be something special for the next decade plus.
