The Chicago Cubs made another roster move Wednesday after completing a dramatic three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers, activating left-hander Braxton Garrett from Triple-A Iowa and optioning right-hander Tyler Ferguson to Triple-A Iowa.
The Cubs announced the transaction following Wednesday's 7-6 victory at Wrigley Field, where Chicago finished off the sweep and handed Los Angeles its season-high sixth consecutive loss. Garrett joins the active roster after arriving from the Miami Marlins at the trade deadline, while Ferguson heads back to Iowa to create space.
Chicago improved to 66-49 with the win, remaining second in the National League Central while holding the top National League Wild Card position.

Garrett gives the Cubs another left-handed option as the club continues reshaping its pitching staff for the stretch run. The 29-year-old was acquired before the trade deadline and now officially joins the active roster after reporting to the organization.
Ferguson heads to Triple-A after appearing in 20 games for Chicago this season. The right-hander owns a 0-1 record, a 5.52 ERA, 20 strikeouts and a 0.92 WHIP. He was optioned one day after throwing 2.0 scoreless innings with three strikeouts and one walk in the Cubs' 7-6 victory over the Dodgers.
The move comes one day after the Cubs activated newly acquired veteran Kevin Gausman, highlighting the front office's continued effort to reinforce the pitching staff ahead of the postseason push. Chicago has aggressively reshaped both its rotation and bullpen over the past week.
The roster move follows an emotional series finale that featured Pete Crow-Armstrong's two-home run, four-RBI performance and Shohei Ohtani's two-homer game. With momentum building after sweeping the Dodgers, the Cubs will look to carry that success into their upcoming series while integrating Garrett into the pitching staff.
