The Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds are set to begin a four game series on Monday at Wrigley Field. Although it is only May, both teams have been fighting for sole possession of first place in the National League Central.
With four games between the two sides, the winner of the series will take control. Chicago currently holds a two-game lead with a 22-12 record, yet Cincinnati is not far behind, sitting at 20-14. Chase Petty will get the ball for the Reds, called up from Triple-A to make a start for the injured Brandon Williamson.
The Cubs will turn to right hander Edward Cabrera, who is in his first season with the organization after being acquired this past winter from the Miami Marlins.
However, both pitchers will have to get ready sooner than expected. Due to incoming rain in the Chicago area, as is usual in early spring, MLB decided to make a change to the start time between the two sides.
Instead of starting at 6:40 CT, the league moved the game up 30 minutes to start at 6:10 CT. The Cubs also released a statement that read, “Tonight’s game between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds at Wrigley Field has been changed to a 6:10 P.M. start due to forecasted inclement weather. Thank you for your cooperation.”

Fans attending the game should plan for potential delays throughout the night, as scattered showers are expected to move through the Chicago area during the early innings.
The earlier start time gives MLB a better window to complete the game without interruption, but conditions could still shift as the evening progresses. Cubs fans heading to Wrigley Field are encouraged to arrive early, monitor weather updates and prepare for a wet, chilly night at the ballpark.
