Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong Reacts to Making History

The Chicago Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong is one of the top rising stars in all of baseball.

On Thursday night, the 23-year-old became the fastest and youngest player in Cubs history to reach 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases. He did it in just 73 games this season. Crow-Armstrong also tied with Ken Williams (who retired in 1929) for fourth in MLB history. Fernando Tatis did it in 71 games, while Jose Canseco did it in 68, and Eric Davis did it in 46.

According to MLB.com's Jordan Bastian, Crow-Armstrong had a humble response to the historical accomplishment.

"It's an honor," Crow-Armstrong said. "It's just an honor to be able to do that."

Bastian says the Cubs' center fielder and fan-favorite still has a chance to make even more history before the season ends.

Crow-Armstrong could become the only player on the list of fastest to 20 homers and 20 steals to reach 40 homers and 40 steals. His teammate, Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson, praised the young superstar for his dynamic and well-rounded play.

“It’s one thing to have special talent and it’s another to go out there and do it. That’s been such a really cool thing to be able to play with a guy that’s electric in every way, shape or form," Swanson said.

Crow-Armstrong is just tapping into his potential in 2025 with this breakout season. Once he enters his prime, there is no telling what kind of records he may be capable of breaking.

Just last season, the Los Angeles Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani had a 50/50 campaign. If Crow-Armstrong continues to add power to his bat, that record could be in danger.
