The Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox will take part in a Spring Breakout game during Spring Training. The game will take place on Friday, Mar. 15 at Sloan Park in Mesa, AZ.
Both teams released their rosters, with Colson Montgomery headlining the Sox roster. However, for the Cubs, their roster is so deep and includes some of the biggest prospects in the team's pipeline.

RHP Cade Horton, INF Matt Shaw, INF James Triantos, OF Kevin Alcantara, and OF Owen Caissie are the headlining names for the Cubs. Notable absences include OF Pete Crow-Armstrong, LHP Jordan Wicks, and RHP Ben Brown. However, it is nice seeing a name like OF Brennen Davis, who could be a wild card in 2024, be listed on the roster.
Although this is just one game, it is a great opportunity for the prospects to show up and show out as a team. Rather than a mix of established big leaguers and the prospects, this will exclusively be a prospect showcase. This is the time for any one of the Cubs' prospects to get noticed by the team or potentially other teams in search of a MLB roster spot some day.
Although the showcase will be an incredible opportunity for the youngsters, the Cubs have done a nice job getting them actively involved in Spring Training games, especially for some of their top players who are a little closer to the majors. For example, Owen Caissie is due to hit lead-off against the Cincinnati Reds at Goodyear Ballpark on Thursday.

With a week until the Spring Breakout game, the Cubs will likely continue working their youngsters into their lineups everyday. However, its safe to assume the prospects will want to beat the group of youngsters that they could share a city with someday.
