Roster movements in the bullpen were announced for the Arizona Diamondbacks as they optioned Christian Montes De Oca to Triple-A Reno. This move is most likely to open up a spot for pitcher Justin Martinez.
The assistant general manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks spoke on Juston Martinez: “We care about execution in addition to the stuff quality, but for last night, a big marker for us was that velocity because that’s been the thing that was the most out of whack from where his baseline is.” (Credit: Arizona Sports)
Justin Martinez: Could return for weekend series https://t.co/9ezPBl7YLg

Just this past Tuesday, Justin Martinez threw a rehab game in Triple-A Reno where he was rolling. Martinez was throwing 101.5 mph on the day, showing that he is truly ready to make his return. Justin Martinez so far in the 2025 season has a 1-1 record with a 2.17 ERA in 10 innings pitched.
This D-Backs bullpen truly needs all the help they can get, as A.J. Puk is on the 60-day IL, and the rest of the supporting cast has been less than stable, to say the least. The return of Justin Martinez would be massive for this club, as he gets his chance to do so this weekend at Busch Stadium as the D-Backs get ready to take on the St. Louis Cardinals for a three-game road series.
