D-backs Fear an Extended Absence for Drey Jameson

Last night, Drey Jameson was checked out by the trainers when he was seen squeezing his right hand. After getting his right wrist checked out, he was cleared to face Daniel Vogelbach, who Jameson struck out after a 10-pitch at-bat. After the game, D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said he was experiencing cramping in his right wrist. However  today Jameson was placed on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.

"The news wasn't so good this morning, there was some tightness up in the forearm area" said Lovullo. "At that point we felt the best thing to do was put him on the IL and let him rest up and get him evaluated."

Jameson is currently undergoing an MRI on his right elbow, with the D-backs manager expressing a high level of concern about the 25-year-old right-hander having an extended absence. 

"Just my experience with the tightness in the area he was talking about today, usually there's a signal in there something is going on."

While the D-backs await for the results of that MRI, they are likely to lose a high octane arm who provided some length for the bullpen. In 15 appearances, with 12 of them out of the bullpen, Jameson was 3-1 with a 3.32 ERA in 40 2/3 innings. After coming up as a starter in the system, the team utilized him as a long reliever. In all of his relief outings, he recorded more than three outs.
