The Los Angeles Dodgers got off to a scorching start to the 2025 season, starting 8-0 on the heels of a World Series Championship, and looking as advertised as being the best team in baseball.
However, since that hot start, things have not come so easily for the defending champs, and Los Angeles currently has some glaring problems that need to be addressed. The Dodgers are just 8-10 since April 4th, and some of the team's biggest stars struggle to find production. And that's not to mention three of those 8 wins since the beginning of April came against the Colorado Rockies, the worst team in baseball so far.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts provided some insight on the team's struggles following a shutout loss at home against the Pittsburgh Pirates:
"It's been difficult. Certain nights, we just can't put a complete ballgame together. Starting pitching, the hitting, timely hitting, all that stuff just hasn't been synced up. We're not too far away. We're going to hit. Some guys are scuttling right now, but they'll find their way."

Roberts is right, as some of the better hitters on the Dodgers are struggling at the moment, which includes new father Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani is hitting just .190 (8-42) since April 11. If the Dodgers have one flaw, it's that the bottom of their order has not been productive, which has been the case during this slide.
However, when the stars at the top of the order are struggling too, and the starting pitching is having trouble fielding a fourth and fifth starter, that's not a recipe for consistently winning.
With that being said, the Dodgers are built for October and have proven over the past several seasons that they can overcome early-season doubts.
