David Ortiz impressed after J.D. Martinez launches three home runs vs. Orioles

J.D. Martinez is the hottest hitter in baseball.

The Boston Red Sox slugger continued his hot start to the 2021 campaign by launching three home runs in Sunday's 14-9 win over the Baltimore Orioles. He had a total of four hits in six plate appearances.

After the game, Red Sox legend David Ortiz shared his feelings about Martinez's big game, and he seems quite impressed.

In eight games this season, Martinez is slashing .472/.500/1.083 with five home runs and 16 RBI. He leads the majors in home runs, RBI and hits (17).

The 33-year-old is showing significant improvement from the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign, and it's likely because of the return of in-game video. Martinez has long been an advocate for in-game video to perfect his swing, and it was banned last season.

Boston has won its last six games after being swept by Baltimore to start the season, and Martinez has the Red Sox atop the AL East with a 6-3 record.
