It's been bad for the Baltimore Orioles in 2025. Two of their biggest offseason acquisitions have been busts; they fired their long-time manager, Brandon Hyde, earlier this month, and they reside in the cellar of MLB after two-straight seasons of playoff appearances, including one seeing them claim the division with over 100 wins.
They now enter Memorial Day with an 18-34 record, last in the American League East and 14 games behind the New York Yankees for the lead, 14th in the American League overall, and 28th in MLB.
While it has certainly been a dreadful first 1/3 of the year, there was one bright spot last week as catcher Adley Rutschman hit a three-run home run in the 11th inning to give the Orioles a cushion over the Milwaukee Brewers and secure interim manager Tony Mansolino's first win.
Orioles’ Tony Mansolino was very humble when asked about his first win as an MLB manager:

That win, snapping an eight-game losing streak, would not be enough to see Baltimore's stock rise in the weekly power rankings, however. In the latest iteration from MLB.com, Will Leitch dropped the team to 27th, a one-spot decline from last week's ranking.
"When Adley Rutschman homered in the 11th inning against the Brewers last week," writes Leitch, "ending the Orioles’ eight-game losing streak and giving interim manager Tony Mansolino his first win, you wondered if maybe that’s what would get the Orioles going. In their next game, they lost 19-5 to the Red Sox."
Stringing together wins has not been the Orioles' strong suit this year, and their losing streaks have far outweighed their winning streaks in both quality and quantity.

Baltimore does enter Memorial Day on a two-game win streak, taking the final two of their four-game set against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park over the weekend.
The schedule does not get much easier, however, as three of their next four opponents are the St. Louis Cardinals, Seattle Mariners, Athletics, and Detroit Tigers.
