The Detroit Tigers have continued to succeed during the 2025 season. They defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 5-1 earlier today and made history in the process. It is the first time since 2006 Detroit has had the league’s best record (33-17) through 50 games. That season, they advanced to the World Series. They would go onto lose in 5 games to the Cardinals.
It is also the first time since 1984 that the Tigers have won 12 of their first 16 series. The only series the team lost were against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Houston Astros, and Texas Rangers. Will the Detroit Tigers continue playing at such a high level?

This has been a dream start for the Detroit Tigers. They have the league’s best record. Detroit’s offense has been strong. They are sixth in batting average, seventh in home runs, and fourth in runs scored. Left Fielder Riley Greene and First Baseman Spencer Torkelson have led the team on offense. Greene is eighth in the league in home runs and 14th in RBI. Torkelson is also eighth in home runs and fourth in RBI.
Detroit’s pitching staff has also been great. They are fifth in ERA , seventh in WHIP, and sixth in opposing batting average. Starting Pitcher Casey Mize is second in the league in wins, and Tarik Skubal is third in strikeouts and eighth in WHIP.
The Detroit Tigers return home to begin a four-game set against the Cleveland Guardians. If the Tigers can keep playing this well, a deep playoff run could be in the cards.
