The Detroit Tigers had an offensive explosion Monday evening at home against the Boston Red Sox. Detroit’s offense powered them to a 14-2 victory. This was a welcome sight for the Tigers following two straight losses to close out the week.
Detroit’s win was clinched with a nine-run bottom of the third. Second Baseman Gleyber Torres finished the game with 3 RBI, as did Shortstop Trey Sweeney. Left Fielder Riley Greene and Center Fielder Javier Baez had 2 RBI apiece. Will the Detroit Tigers keep it going at the plate this week?
Detroit has been one of the league’s best teams in 2025. They lead the American League Central at 27-15. As was on display Monday night, the Tigers possess one of the league’s best offenses. They are fourth in batting average, seventh in home runs, and third in runs scored. First Baseman Spencer Torkelson is top 10 in the league in both home runs and RBI.
The Tigers also have a tremendous pitching staff. They are third in ERA, second in WHIP, and third in opposing batting average. Reigning Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal has picked up right where he left off in 2025. He is eighth in the league in ERA, fourth in WHIP, and ninth in strikeouts.
Detroit returns to the diamond for the middle game of their three-game set with the Boston Red Sox tomorrow night. With such a great offense and pitching staff, the Detroit Tigers are poised for another deep run in the MLB Playoffs.
