The Detroit Tigers are coming off a great week at the plate. They led the league with 20 home runs over the last week. That is the most the team has hit over a seven-game stretch since September 2004. Unfortunately, hitting home runs did not lead to great on-field success. They were 4-3 over that span.
Detroit had this burst of power on the road against the Houston Astros for three games and a four-game road set against the Los Angeles Angels. Left Fielder Kerry Carpenter had three home runs over the past week. Left Fielder Riley Greene added four to the team’s total. Will the Detroit Tigers be able to maintain their level of performance at the plate?

Coming off a trip to the MLB Playoffs last season, Detroit has picked up right where they left off to start 2025. They lead the American League Central at 22-13. Detroit’s offense, as was on display over the last week, is one of the league’s best. They are fifth in batting average , fifth in home runs, and tied for fourth in runs scored. First Baseman Spencer Torkelson has gotten off to a stellar start. He is fourth in the league in home runs and eighth in RBI.
Detroit’s pitching staff has also been stellar. They are third in ERA, fifth in opposing batting average, and third in WHIP. Tarik Skubal has been just as good coming off a Cy Young campaign. He is top 15 in the league in ERA, strikeouts, and WHIP.
The Tigers will look to continue their performance at the plate when they visit the Colorado Rockies for a three-game series beginning on Tuesday. With a great offense and pitching staff, the Detroit Tigers will continue being a threat in the American League.
