The Arizona Diamondbacks were defeated by the Pirates by a score of 9-6 after a late run saw Pittsburgh tie up the series.

Corbin Burnes was decent and put the Snakes in a position to win again on the day as he only allowed two earned runs on six hits in 7.0 innings pitched.

Arizona came out swinging in the first inning. Corbin Carroll hit a solo shot home run 393 feet, hopefully breaking out of his recent slump.

Getting going:

The D-Backs found their groove in what looked like a ball club finally ready to explode. Geraldo Perdomo didn’t want this opportunity to go to waste, he hit a single to right-center that scored Jordan Lawler and Alek Thomas. Lourdes Guirriel Jr. followed up with a single scoring Corbin Carroll right after. Josh Naylor wanted in on the fun as he was able to secure a single as well that scored Perdomo making it a 6-0 game. The sense of relief from the D-Backs dugout was apparent as the frustrations of leaving runners on base had to be mounting up.

Pittsburgh did punch back when Henry Davis hit a two-run home run. The Pirates were able to get a couple more runners aboard though Jordan Lawler made an amazing inning-ending diving stop that held two runners on and stopped the rally.

Late game collapse:

The eighth inning saw Arizona’s detrimental bullpen problems boil over as it was one of the worst collapses we have seen all season. Kevin Ginkel entered and gave up three runs that tied the game, soon after Jalen Beeks took over and gave up a three-run go-ahead home run to give Pittsburgh a 9-6 lead.

The D-Backs ultimately lost by the score of 9-6 on Tuesday night. The Snakes now gear up for a rubber match with the Pirates in a day game at Chase Field tomorrow.
