PHOENIX — The baseball world was abuzz after Eugenio Suárez’s go-ahead grand slam in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series.
This moment even drew a shoutout from his former Arizona Diamondbacks teammate Blaze Alexander.
Suárez, who spent a season and a half with the Arizona Diamondbacks before being traded to Seattle at the deadline, crushed a grand slam that lifted the Mariners to a 6-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.
The slam gave the Mariners a 3-2 series lead, putting them one win away from reaching their first World Series. Suárez’s homer was clutch and helped shift the momentum back to Seattle’s side.

Although his tenure in Arizona was brief, Suárez’s impact was lasting. No longer a Diamondback, fans continue to root for him. Former teammates are also happy to see him succeed, which is a testament to the kind of person he is.
Even if things didn’t end the way the D-Backs or their fans had hoped this season, watching one of their own shine in the biggest moment of his career is something to cherish.
