Friday night will see the Arizona Diamondbacks aim to orchestrate a win against the Miami Marlins at Chase Field.
Arizona is coming off winning back-to-back series over the Colorado Rockies and the Chicago White Sox. The D-Backs are currently still fourth in the NL West with a record of 41-39. They sit nine games behind the division lead and three games out of a wildcard spot, as the Snakes head toward past the halfway point of the 2025 season.
Merrill Kelly will look to continue his stellar season and show his stability. Kelly has a 7-3 record with a 3.39 ERA and has been one of the bright spots for this Diamondbacks pitching staff this season. In the last two starts, Kelly was hit around but managed the game to the best of his abilities, as he has allowed 13 hits and six runs in his most recent outings against the Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres.
Miami will be having Eury Perez pitching tonight at Chase Field. Still looking for his first win of the season, Perez has a 0-2 record with a 6.17 ERA. He has had a rocky start to the season, and in his last start, Perez only pitched 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs on four hits against the Atlanta Braves.
This past road trip resulted in a massive number of injuries, which the Diamondbacks will look to avoid going forward. Arizona has optimized its roster while dealing with this barrage of untimely injuries, yet still manages to strategize how to capitalize on the struggling ball clubs. If the Snakes can continue their dominance at the plate, they might find themselves coming out of this weekend with another series win. The first pitch at Chase Field is tonight at 6:40 p.m. PT.
