Diamondbacks set new all-time record for consecutive road losses

The Arizona Diamondbacks couldn't avoid making some notorious MLB history ahead of the halfway point of the 2021 season and an All-Star break that, more than likely, can't come soon enough for the last-place club.

One day after the Diamondbacks tied the 1943 Philadelphia Athletics and 1963 New York Mets by losing their 22nd straight road game, Arizona suffered a 10-3 afternoon defeat at the San Francisco Giants to set a new record for most consecutive away losses.

In additional injury added to insult, the result put Arizona at a dreadful 20-50 on the season and a remarkable 24.5 games behind the first-place Giants in the National League West standings, not that anybody associated with the Diamondbacks has any business scoreboard-watching as spring turns to summer.

We'll give whoever runs the club's social media accounts credit for having a sense of humor about a situation beyond the control of those outside the clubhouse and front office:

One piece of good news is that the Diamondbacks return home to host the Los Angeles Dodgers this weekend and won't play away from Chase Field again until June 25.
