Barstool Sports may be adding a new entity to its catalog: The New York Mets.
On Monday, Darren Rovell of the Action Network reported that former New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez were reprising a previous bid to own the Mets, with billionaire entrepreneur and businessman Mike Repole as a partner.
After Rovell tweeted that information, Barstool founder Dave Portnoy hinted on Twitter that he was asked to join the bidding trio:
An anonymous source has asked me if I’d like to be involved with an anonymous professional sports team if they anonymously buy the franchise. I wouldn’t have to relocate. Need to consider

As Mark Fischer of the New York Post wrote, Portnoy is friends with Repole. Barstool has previously done business with Rodriguez via "The Corp" podcast.
Dan Katz, who co-hosted "The Corp" alongside Rodriguez, joked on Twitter that he was becoming a bench coach for the Amazins:
I’m going to be a bench coach for the Mets. It’s going to be so awesome https://t.co/igzRrk9cRl

A-Rod and J-Lo hit a brick wall in negotiations over purchasing the Mets earlier this year when majority owner Fred Wilpon reportedly didn't want to include cable television network SNY in the deal. Katherine Acquavella of CBS Sports wrote Wilpon may have softened his stance amid the coronavirus pandemic.
