Dodgers Blake Snell Breaks Silence on Injury

Blake Snell joined the Los Angeles Dodgers on a five-year, $182 million deal in November, helping fortify an already solid starting rotation. The southpaw's tenure with the franchise got off to a strong start as he is 1-0 with a 2.00 ERA and four strikeouts in 9.0 innings pitched over his first two starts.

The two-time Cy Young Award winner suffered a setback, however, as he was placed on the injured list with left shoulder inflammation. Snell began his bullpen session on Sunday before finishing it early due to soreness, which was later revealed to be inflammation by an MRI.

He spoke with the media on Monday, where he discussed his latest injury, stating:

I've been feeling it for like three weeks. Thought I could pitch through it. When I got to Philly, played long toss, catch, tried to throw - I just couldn't, but it's inflammation. It's bad. Hopefully, it's a couple weeks and I'm back and ready to go.

Snell added that he was hoping to get past the injury and pitch without a stint on the injured list. He revealed that he was aware of the injury over his first two starts as it had been bothering him a good amount. He noted that he has pitched through similar issues in his elbow, but not the shoulder.

The one-time All-Star is expected to miss at least two starts. Injuries have been a consistent theme during Snell's ten-year career as he has made 30 starts in just two seasons - with one additional season over 24 starts.
