Dodgers’ Blake Snell Provides Update on Injury Recovery

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell is scheduled to throw a bullpen session next week during the team’s road series against the San Diego Padres, marking a key step in his recovery from left shoulder inflammation.

Originally placed on the injured list on April 6, Snell was later transferred to the 60-day IL. An MRI revealed no structural damage, but a previous attempt to ramp up his throwing program in April was halted due to lingering discomfort. That setback led to further evaluation and an injection to relieve pain.

"I think sometime in San Diego is the plan,” Snell said on Dodger Talk with David Vassegh. "They’ll let me know, and I’ll be ready. I’m just excited. I’m throwing, and there’s no pain. I can actually be excited for something. It’s going to come and happen soon."

Before the injury, the two-time Cy Young Award winner made two starts, allowing two earned runs over nine innings. However, he struggled with command, issuing eight walks while recording just four strikeouts. Snell later admitted he had pitched through shoulder discomfort, initially brushing it off as normal wear and tear.

He has since resumed playing catch from flat ground, and the upcoming bullpen session would be his first off a mound since April.

Snell is among 15 Dodgers pitchers currently on the injured list, including Tyler Glasnow, who suffered soreness after a recent bullpen session, according to manager Dave Roberts. While the team has not set an official timeline for Snell’s return, the Dodgers are hopeful he can return sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, Los Angeles will host the New York Mets, with Clayton Kershaw and Tony Gonsolin scheduled to toe the slab in games two and three of the four-game series.
