The Los Angeles Dodgers came into the second half knowing the team needed some reinforcements at the trade deadline.
The bottom of the lineup has been an offensive slog all season and the bullpen is starting to falter in the second half. Evan Phillips, who was closing games this year, has an 11.42 ERA in his last 11 appearances. The bullpen also blew a 5-0 lead over the Houston Astros on Saturday.

On Monday, the Dodgers addressed the team's needs in a three-way trade with the Chicago White Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Los Angeles acquired infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman and right-hander Oliver Gonzalez from the Cardinals, as well as righty Michael Kopech from the White Sox.
The Dodgers traded Miguel Vargas and two minor-league players, Jeral Perez and Alexander Albertus, to the White Sox.
Edman has not played in the majors this year since getting arthroscopic surgery on his wrist in October. He did start his rehab assignment recently with the Cardinals and there is no official word on if he is going continue his rehab in the minors or join the big league club.
In his career, Edman is hitting .265/.319/.408 as a switch hitter. Edman offers versatility by playing the infield and the outfield and will slot in nicely toward the bottom of the Dodger's lineup. Edman is under contract until 2025.
Kopech started his career as a starting pitcher, but after struggling in 2023, he made the move to the bullpen. So far this year, Kopech has a 4.74 ERA in 43.2 innings pitched.
While Kopech can get wild, he has a 4.9 BB/9 and major strikeout potential, owning a 12.2 SO/9.
The Dodgers and pitching coach Mark Prior will try to tap into his strikeout potential and have him succeed as a reliable back-end reliever.
