The Los Angeles Dodgers' offense has struggled over the past week, primarily due to their star players not performing at the level they usually do. Aside from one game against the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles has been held to six or fewer runs in each game since April 18.
If there is a bright side to the recent struggles, it's young outfielder Andy Pages potentially coming into his own as a hitter. Pages has not gotten off to the best start this season, receiving a bulk of the playing time out in center field. He's hitting .216 in 74 at-bats.
The good news is that Pages might be finding his footing in the Dodgers' lineup. Over the last three games, Pages has two home runs, two doubles, and scored three runs. The two doubles came against one of the game's absolute best in Paul Skenes.
Manager Dave Roberts recently shared with the media his thoughts on the 24-year-old Cuban outfielder:
"I like his swing, certainly the results have been good the last handful of games," said Roberts. "The swing has gotten a lot shorter, and I think that he's just really competing, and the confidence is growing and it's good to see."
The Dodgers could use some stability in the center fielder position. After some questionable defensive decisions by Pages early in the season, he has showcased his strong arm and wide range with some high-quality plays in the latter part of April.
The bottom half of the Dodgers' order has been pitiful to start the season, and it will go a long way in lengthening the lineup if Pages can become a more credible offensive option.
