The Los Angeles Dodgers designated Michael Siani for assignment to clear space on their 40-man roster for the signing of Kyle Tucker.

The Dodgers previously claimed Siani off waivers from the Atlanta Braves on Dec. 12, 2025 after he was designated for assignment as the corresponding move for signing Mike Yastrzemski.

Siani played parts of four seasons with the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals before he was claimed off waivers by the Atlanta Braves on Nov. 6, 2025.

Siani is a glove-first center fielder with experience in all three outfield spots. In 2024, his 16 outs above average ranked in the 99th percentile of players, placing him among the best defenders in baseball.

Although Siani appeared in a career-high 124 games that season, he spent the majority of this past year with Triple-A Memphis and played in only 19 games for the Cardinals.

While with the Memphis Redbirds in 2025, Siani hit just .209/.307/.329 with 12 doubles, four triples, eight home runs and 41 RBI over 101 games. He added 28 stolen bases and was caught stealing just five times.

In 160 games across parts of four Major League seasons, Siani has batted .221/.277/.270 with seven doubles, two home runs and 20 RBI. He additionally has 21 career stolen bases, with 20 of those coming in 2024.

The Dodgers are likely hoping he will clear waivers and can be sent to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Siani represents an option to fill the role held by Justin Dean last season as a defensive sub and pinch-runner.

Siani has not yet qualified for arbitration and is under team control through the 2031 season. He additionally has one Minor League option season remaining.

Ryan Fitzgerald clears waivers

The Dodgers sent Ryan Fitzgerald outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City after he cleared waivers.

Fitzgerald was claimed off waivers from the Minnesota Twins earlier this month before getting designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for Andy Ibáñez, who signed a one-year contract with the Dodgers worth $1.2 million.

Fitzgerald made his MLB debut with the Twins last year, appearing in 24 games and hitting .196/.302/.457 with four home runs and nine RBI. While with Triple-A St. Paul, he batted .277/.367/.469 with 16 doubles, seven home runs and 31 RBI.

The 31-year-old has experience playing first base, second base, third base, shortstop and all three outfield positions. The bulk of Fitzgerald’s time in the Minors has come as a shortstop.
