The Los Angeles Dodgers have been rolling right along, recently becoming the first MLB team to hit 60 wins with a narrow home victory over the Colorado Rockies. The Dodgers are looking to pull off a rare MLB three-peat, having won the last two World Series championships and sitting in great position to add a third this year.
The Dodgers haven’t always had great luck in the injury department, and that continued recently when utility player Tommy Edman was hit by a pitch, sustaining an ankle injury in the process.
However, on Tuesday, the team got a positive update on Edman’s status for that night’s game vs the Rockies.
MLB.com noted that Edman “…pinch-hit on July 5 and 6. Expected back in the starting lineup on July 7,” which would be Tuesday’s game.
Edman has been a highly valuable utility player for the Dodgers during his career there, so it’s certainly a positive sign that the Dodgers will likely be getting him back on Tuesday, and that the injury isn’t anything too serious.
The Dodgers have also dealt with other injuries, most notably among their pitching staff, with Tyler Glasnow, Edwin Diaz, and others all missing time with various ailments this season, in many ways mirroring the struggles that Los Angeles suffered in that department last year, before finally getting healthy just in time for the postseason.
When they’re at full strength, or even close to it, there’s not a team in the MLB that can challenge the Dodgers from a talent perspective, so it will all be about getting hot at the right time and making sure everyone is fully healthy and rested leading up to the playoffs, which are set to begin in October.
