Dodgers first base coach being considered for Marlins manager

The Los Angeles Dodgers just won the World Series, and already they could be losing someone.

First base coach Clayton McCullough has talked with the Miami Marlins about their manager job. On Thursday, ESPN’s Jeff Passan said things could accelerate between McCullough and the Marlins now that the season has ended.

The Marlins also considered former MLB outfielder and Chicago Cubs coach Will Venable and Cleveland Guardians bench coach Craig Albernaz for the job. The White Sox have already hired Venables as their next manager, and Albernaz has reportedly withdrawn from consideration for the Marlins gig. That’s another sign the job may be going to McCullough.

McCullough, 44, has been the Dodgers' first base coach since 2021. Before that, he was the team's minor league field coordinator. Being a coach for a team that just won the World Series certainly helps his case.
