The Marlins also considered former MLB outfielder and Chicago Cubs coach Will Venable and Cleveland Guardians bench coach Craig Albernaz for the job. The White Sox have already hired Venables as their next manager, and Albernaz has reportedly withdrawn from consideration for the Marlins gig. That’s another sign the job may be going to McCullough.
McCullough, 44, has been the Dodgers' first base coach since 2021. Before that, he was the team's minor league field coordinator. Being a coach for a team that just won the World Series certainly helps his case.
