In a perfect world, the Los Angeles Dodgers will start to get healthy before the postseason. For a Dodgers team that's expected to win a World Series, no matter the injuries they deal with, the team is in a strange position due to the injuries.
Whether it be Tommy Edman, Teoscar Hernandez, or the slew of injuries that the Dodgers have faced on the mound, it isn't exactly easy for them to deal with all of this.
However, no fan in the league will feel bad for the Dodgers, who have one of the most expensive payrolls that baseball has ever seen.
The Dodgers don't seem to care too much about the injuries, either, not making excuses and simply taking care of business, going 8-2 over their last 10 games.
However, at some point, there's a chance that these will start to add up.
For somebody like Edman, who was arguably one of the top players in Major League Baseball before going down with his injury, he's irreplaceable.
However, according to LAFB, it doesn't sound like the Los Angeles utility man will make his return in the near future, according to comments from Dave Roberts.
"On Tuesday, Roberts offered a further update before the Dodgers faced the Miami Marlins: “It’s just not responding,” he said of Edman’s ankle. Roberts noted that Edman was scheduled to attempt some running that day, but the team is no longer optimistic about his chances of returning for the weekend series against the Los Angeles Angels," LAFB wrote.
If it takes a few more weeks for Edman to get healthy, that's what the Dodgers need to do.
Ultimately, a World Series isn't won in May, and if one team understands that, it's Los Angeles.
