Dodgers Get New Health Update on Tommy Edman and Teoscar Hernandez

If the Los Angeles Dodgers can get healthy over the next few months, there won't be much debate on who the best team in Major League Baseball is.

The Dodgers have already played at an elite level to start the year, currently holding the best record in the National League at 28-15.

However, only 0.5 games ahead in the National League West, the Dodgers will need to get going at a different pace if they want to win the division with ease.

That’ll require them to get Tommy Edman and Teoscar Hernandez back, but according to a recent report from Dodgers Nation, that isn't expected to be until after this weekend.

Dodgers Nation reported that they hit against right-hander Tommy Sheehan on Wednesday, who is coming back from Tommy John surgery, but at the very least, they likely will remain on the injured list through the weekend.

“Both injuries seemed minor initially. But Hernández and Edman will reportedly remain on the injured list through the weekend, missing the Freeway Series against the Los Angeles Angels...

“Hernández may require a short rehab assignment before the Dodgers will activate him. Meanwhile, Edman is not expected to need a rehab assignment prior to his return,” they wrote.

Ultimately, this isn't the biggest deal for the Dodgers.

At worst, they need to find a way to get healthy for October. If that means they have to play in a Wild Card spot, it wouldn't be ideal, but it could be much worse.

Even if the Dodgers keep pace, they should find a way to win the division. However, at some point, these injuries will likely start to hurt them.

Losing Hernandez and Edman for the amount of time they have isn't ideal, but the Dodgers have found ways to win games, even if it isn't at the level they were hoping for entering the year.
