Dodgers' Hyeseong Kim Makes Admission After MLB Debut

It's always an incredible situation when players make their debut in Major League Baseball. That was the case for Hyeseong Kim of the Los Angeles Dodgers this weekend, who many expected to be the potential starting second baseman to start the year.

Unfortunately, Kim struggled mightily during spring training and was optioned to Triple-A. With Tommy Edman on the injury list, the Dodgers called up the international star and gave him an opportunity to play second base in the ninth Inning.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Kim admitted that it was an incredible feeling and that he's excited to be part of the team.

“I was very surprised,” Kim said through his interpreter, per Dodgers Nation. “After the game last night, our Triple-A manager, Henny (Scott Hennessey) announced to me that I was going to go to the Show. I came in with a very happy and very excited mindset. I’m really excited right now.”

The Dodgers gave him a decent contract, signing him to a three-year, $12.5 million deal. Most teams wouldn't want to keep that in Triple-A, but the Dodgers are loaded from top to bottom and have the option to do so.

In Triple-A, he's been decent, posting a .252 batting average with five home runs in 115 at-bats.

Kim still has plenty to work on before being a real big league player, but the signs are there, and that's all that matters right now for the 26-year-old.

The Dodgers are expected to send him down when Edman comes back, but he'll enjoy it for now.
