Reports have indicated that the Los Angeles Dodgers are pleased with how Max Muncy looks at the moment.
Muncy hurt his knee during Clayton Kershaw's 3,000th strikeout game, during a play that was criticized by some of the Dodgers' players.
Whether the optics behind that were right or wrong, he went down with an injury, and it's not something that either side can change now.
They have to worry about getting him healthy and going from there.
However, according to a recent report, the Dodgers are now open to adding a utility man, noting that Muncy’s injury could be a potential problem for them despite the positive signs on his progress.
"The Dodgers hope their starting pitchers continue to get healthy, and with most of them trending in that direction, it appears they will focus on bullpen help at the deadline," according to The Athletic's Jim Bowden. "The Dodgers will be open to also adding a utility player to help fill in the gaps left by their injured players, including third baseman Max Muncy, who is making progress in his recovery from a knee injury."
Muncy struggled during the early stages of the campaign, but fixed things with his eyes, literally, and started swinging the bat like one of the better hitters on the roster once again.
All Muncy has done throughout his long Dodgers career is swing the bat at a very high level.
For the Dodgers to be the team they want to be in the postseason, they need their fan favorite.
However, if this is a lingering injury, it might be better for the front office to go out and add a player who can at least take some at-bats from him if he isn't feeling too good when he wakes up on random days.
