Dodgers made World Series history with Game 5 comeback win

The Los Angeles Dodgers didn’t just win the World Series on Wednesday night. They made history.

The Dodgers came back from down 5-0 in the fifth inning to beat the New York Yankees 7-6 in Game 5 at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York. The comeback was the biggest by a team in a clinching game to win the World Series.

The comeback from the Dodgers solidified their status as true champions.

Recall, the Dodgers were against the ropes in the NLDS against the San Diego Padres. They were trailing 2-1 in the series and facing elimination but won two straight to capture the series. The Dodgers also bounced back after both their losses in the NLCS to the Mets to win the next game.

Between the NLCS and World Series, the Dodgers never let one of the New York teams win two games in a row against them. On Wednesday, they came back from down 5-0 and down 6-5 to win the game.

The Yankees’ complete defensive meltdown certainly opened the door for the Dodgers, and they kicked it in. They didn’t even let the series go back to Los Angeles for a sixth game.

This was the Dodgers’ first championship since 2020, but their first full-season championship since 1988.
