The Los Angeles Dodgers are getting a big reinforcement back on their roster.
As manager Dave Roberts told reporters on Monday, the Dodgers will activate super utility man Tommy Edman from the 60-day injured list tomorrow.
Tommy Edman will be activated off the IL tomorrow as planned, Dave Roberts said, but the Dodgers will ramp him up to full time. Expect Edman to start 3-4 games a week and to see time at 2B, 3B, LF.

The plan for Edman is to be ramped up to playing full-time. The expectation is that he will start three to four games a week and play second base, third base and left field, per Katie Woo of The Athletic.
Edman has not yet played in the major leagues this season due to offseason right ankle surgery. The ankle appeared to have hindered him throughout the 2025 regular season and postseason, but he was able to play through it.
Now the dilemma will be whose roster spot does Edman take on the 26-man squad. Outfielder Alex Call, left fielder/first baseman Ryan Ward and catcher Chuckie Robinson have minor league options remaining. One of Alex Freeland or Santiago Espinal could lose their spot as well. But Freeland has been getting the majority of the playing time at second base and Espinal would need to be designated for assignment since he is out of options.
The Dodgers are hoping to see the 2024 second half and postseason version of Edman now that he is healthy again. Edman won the 2024 NLCS MVP award and helped the Dodgers capture back-to-back World Series titles the last two seasons.
Los Angeles acquired Edman from the St. Louis Cardinals at the 2024 MLB trade deadline. He has hit .229/.280/.392 as a member of the Dodgers. But he started off a lot hotter offensively with the Dodgers and cooled off by the end of the 2025 season.
The Dodgers enter play on Monday with a 45-27 record and seven-game lead in the National League West division. They will take on the Tampa Bay Rays in a three-game series beginning tonight at 10:10 pm ET.
