Max Muncy and the Los Angeles Dodgers earned a spring training win on Monday, defeating the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3. The veteran third baseman had two hits and a run scored in the victory. He is now hitting .375 to go along with a .975 OPS during spring training. After the game, Muncy told reporters that he feels good about his swing right now, via SportsNet LA.
"Feeling good, feeling in a good spot right now," Muncy said. "At this point, my mechanics feel good. It's just about building up game endurance and getting more innings under your belt. I know some guys like to say a specific number of at-bats, but for me it's more about just getting the consistency of being in there... My swing feels in a really good spot right now.
"We've worked on some mechanical stuff. It feels like it's right there right now. I'm happy with today."
Some players require more time to find their rhythm. Other guys are able to get things going without any trouble during spring training. Muncy is certainly off to a strong start. He said he made some mechanical adjustments, and it will be interesting to see if that leads to a big 2026 campaign.
Muncy, 35, is a two-time All-Star. He has been limited in recent seasons, playing in 100 games or less in both 2024 and 2025. He is still a productive player, however.
Despite appearing in only 100 contests last year, Muncy still managed to hit 19 home runs while recording an .846 OPS.
In many lineups around baseball, Muncy would be one of the best hitters on the team. He is sometimes overlooked in the Dodgers' star-studded batting order, but Los Angeles understands how important he is to the team's success.
Not only is Muncy a tremendous power hitter from the left side of the plate, but he has also become one of the leaders on the team. Muncy has played in Los Angeles since 2018 and is a respected veteran on the roster.
With all of that being said, a big season would only increase his value to the ball club. Muncy's comments after Monday's game hinted at a potential huge campaign in 2026. As long as he can stay healthy, Muncy may be on the verge of earning his first All-Star selection in 2021.
