The Los Angeles signed their first true closer this week since Kenley Jansen. However, it appears they aren’t finished moving pieces. Last week, rumors were that there was an off-chance that Los Angeles might consider trading Tyler Glasnow to finish their outfield. Although it seemed a possibility, the match seemed unlikely. Since then, however, the whispers have grown louder. A source close to the Dodgers has confirmed that they “are open” to trading the right-handed starter.
It was two years ago that the Dodgers acquired Glasnow in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays for starting pitcher Ryan Pepiot. The right-hander agreed to extend his contract to four years. The acquisition and the contract did raise some eyebrows at the time because of the money and Glasnow’s well-documented injury history.

The Dodgers knew about the finicky elbow and the time missed due to Tommy John surgery. Glasnow has missed half of the last two seasons. However, they thought that if he was healthy, he could potentially carry the pitching staff because the right-hander’s stuff is that good. And, when available, he proved them right. This postseason, he garnered a 1.69 ERA, pitching both as a starter and reliever. It is safe to say the Dodgers don’t win the 2025 World Series without him.
It still remains unlikely that Los Angeles trades Glasnow for anything other than another quality arm. For what it’s worth, rumors about a Tarik Skubal to the Dodgers trade are swirling, and they do have the resources to make it happen. President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman spoke cryptically of being excited about the possibility of having something “lined up.” What that is, is anyone’s guess. However, it is clear that the Dodgers are going to make moves. Will it be before Christmas?
