Mookie Betts had a disappointing year with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2025, yet still finished on top by securing his fourth World Series title, the most among active MLB players. His season began with an illness that caused significant weight loss, and he never fully recovered at the plate.

The 33-year-old veteran posted a .258 batting average, a .326 on-base percentage, a .732 OPS, 20 home runs and 82 RBIs across 150 games. Even so, Betts showed significant improvement at shortstop, finishing as a finalist for a Gold Glove award. He also remained a valuable clubhouse presence, helping guide Los Angeles to its second straight World Series championship.

Heading into 2026, there is reason for optimism that Betts can return to form, especially after his second-half surge, as he enters his 13th MLB season.

In the meantime, Betts’ focus has momentarily shifted away from baseball. He continues to be active off the field through his 50/50 Foundation, which supports underprivileged youth.

He has also expanded his presence in media, working with Bleacher Report on his own show and podcast, "On Base with Mookie Betts." He interviews notable figures in baseball, further cementing his place as a content creator.

On Wednesday, Betts took to Instagram to announce a new partnership with Home Run Dugout, a baseball-themed entertainment venue.

“Home Run Dugout is thrilled to announce a partnership with the legendary and future Hall of Famer @MookieBetts. As HRD continues to lead social baseball entertainment, Mr. Betts will serve as Chair of our Athlete Advisory Board, helping drive innovation, fan engagement, partnerships and national expansion,” the company wrote.

Betts added his own message about the partnership. “At my core, I’ve always believed baseball should be for everyone. That’s what drives me to do the things I do off the field, giving every kid the chance to fall in love with the game, no matter where they come from,” he said.

Mookie Betts’ Legacy Extends Beyond the Diamond

Betts’ off-field ventures only add to a legacy already defined by his on-field excellence. A former MVP, eight-time All-Star, six-time Gold Glove winner, seven-time Silver Slugger and 2018 batting champion, he has built one of the most accomplished careers of his generation.

His 12-year, $365 million extension with the Dodgers, signed in 2020 and running through 2032, ensures the organization will have him for the foreseeable future. These accolades make his Hall of Fame trajectory undeniable, and they underscore why his involvement with Home Run Dugout is significant.

HRD aims to make baseball more accessible through interactive batting bays and a social sports bar atmosphere, and having Betts as Chair of its Athlete Advisory Board connects the company’s mission directly to one of the game’s most respected stars.
